Understanding of a broad outline of the world is a requisite for university students who aim to engage the global arena in the context of their respective disciplines. Through this extensive fall semester course, participating students will explore different topics surrounding social innovation, entrepreneurial leadership and economic development in Africa, particularly Ghana. Students are exposed to new cultures and immersed in deep-level learning needed to thrive in the global economy. This course is part one of a two-course series, the second of which begins with a 2-week study abroad trip to Ghana during the winter intersession. As such, providing a full fall semester of exploration in advance of a 2-week study abroad trip will provide students the opportunity to explore, expand, and better articulate their understanding of diverse ways of thinking and solving real world problems in global contexts. The broad objective of this initiative is to prepare students for careers in the global business arena. There is a fee associated with this class.
