Catalog Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the geographic analysis of various regions of the world. Emphasis is placed upon each region's major natural environmental features (terrain, climate, natural vegetation, and natural resources) and how these features relate to and influence man's occupation and culture of the region.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the five themes of Geography.
2. Be able to analyze spatially and graphically presented information in the form of maps, graphs, charts, and diagrams.
3. Be able to describe the distinctive geographical, cultural, and economic features of each major region of the world to include a familiarity with the basic layout of the political world, general patterns of geopolitical change, resource distribution, and general climactic conditions.
4. Be able to discuss and analyze the formative interactions between human cultures and their environmental settings.
5. Be able to compare and contrast the major regions of the world.
6. Be able to analyze the interaction and inter-connections between different regions of the world.
